Click for information on Stream Stewards Program There are several ongoing habitat restoration projects on Ohop, Muck, Mashell,  Lacamas, and Yelm Creeks in the Eatonville-Yelm-Fort Lewis-Roy area.  Each of these requires some support throughout the year, such as watering and weeding, until the vegetation is mature enough to survive on its own.  There are also additional plantings planned during the cooler, wetter weather.  Salmon watcher training and salmon carcass toss is also planned in November and December.  Contact Don Perry, Salmon Restoration Outreach Coordinator, Nisqually Tribe Natural Resources, (360) 438-8687, dperry@nwifc.org.
The Nisqually Land Trust has several opportunities to become volunteer stewards of properties in its care.  Stewardship can mean adopting a site and visiting it regularly for dumping and trespass while checking in with neighbors.  There are also opportunities for invasive plant removal, planting projects, or tearing down old buildings and fences.  Contact Linda Kunze, Nisqually Land Trust (Yelm), (360) 458-1111, nltsteward@ywave.com.
